Civic Science and Microscopy/Compost Collection Day
Be a part of the Community Compost Team as we explore the biota of living compost. Join us at the North Beach Compost Hub for the first in an ongoing series about civic science and exploration. We’ll learn to use various scientific tools to record data about the compost we make – including looking at mites, bacteria and fungi through the microscope. Our time will be spent taking samples, observing and recording what we find, then sharing the info with our community.
The aggregation of empirical data is the cornerstone of the scientific method and the naturalists’ process. Over time, with your help, we hope to learn and share as much as possible about this rich resource we cultivate.
8am–noon: Compost pickup – no RSVP needed but bring a container
10:30am–noon: Workshop free to attend, please RSVP
