Isla Moon is an internationally shown artist, curator and celebrated poet. Her work delves into the personal mythos and individual experiences of human awareness that bridge ancient storytelling with preset day self realization. Inspired by sacred texts, mythology, and the psychosomatic possibilities that color and art lend to the multidimensional aspects of healing and further informing the human experience. She lends her artistry to creating impact towards global concerns and solely participates in purpose driven initiatives, using art as an innovative way to create conversation, self awareness, and affect change in society. Considering all things sacred, bringing empathetic awareness to what it may feel like to have been, to be, personified symbolically in story.
Moon is a native of New Orleans, where she studied and holds a Fine Arts Degree in Art History and Painting. Her continuing studies brought her to Burren College of Art in Ireland and University of Hawaii. She works with indigenous cultures, prayer ceremonies, and female leaders across the globe to empower and raise up the next generation of creatives.
Part 1 of her book series, The Gospell of Selah, is a poetic expression of the heroine’s journey through trauma and rising, self acceptance and emotional excavations of love and grief. Available through Barnes & Noble and Amazon. You may learn more about the artist on her website: www.islamoon.com.
Revelation Vessel: The Oil Paintings of Isla Moon will be on display in the Garden’s Butterfly Gallery from April 7 to May 8. The opening celebration on May 20 is free to attend but please RSVP.
