Miami native and tree expert Drake Kurlander is an ISA Certified Arborist, Tree Climber, and managing director of True Tree Service. True Tree has been caring for South Florida’s trees for more than 10 years including at the Miami Beach Botanical Garden, Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, and Miami Design District.
Drake will be giving a short presentation explaining why our trees need care and how to properly do this. He will explain how tree care is performed differently in other parts of the world as compared to South Florida, our unique ecosystem, and how it has changed over time. On a walking tour we’ll spend some time illustrating different biological concepts as they relate to keeping trees healthy and beautiful. The tour will highlight two of the Garden’s largest trees, the Banyan and the Rainbow Eucalyptus, and explain why they’ve been cared for as they have.
